I think the reason I decided this was going to be IT this time was for that very reason, Lauren - just fed up with the backwards and forwards thinking about it!!
Gamine!😍 Oh my word, I was chuckling the whole way through. So relatable. I made the decision, aided by pandemic lockdown, to stop "trying to add colour to the relationship" and shorten the length to just past the shoulders. Perfect strangers now compliment my mostly silver locks. You are far away from that right now and may never choose to or need to, but, for all considering letting go of the colouring, my hair hasn't been this healthy and shiny in a loooong time. Gorgeous, Catherine!
I'm not all that far away from going silver AT ALL Rona - in fact when I dyed my hair darker a month or so ago the roots showed (because of the contrast) that I was soooo much greyer than I realised... my sister is badgering me to grow it out, but I still love being a redhead too much! But I've also cut my hair partly to make the transition easier and quicker as and when it comes to it. Look out for a post entitled "Dyed hair, we're breaking up" in a few years LOL x
Hi Catherine. Your new style is fabulous and suits you so well. I loved the post and chuckled over your relationship.
I've never been able to grow my hair longer than shoulder length,so can't imagine a high maintenance relationship like that, but I've recently gone from a bob to pixie crop, and I can assure you that me and my hair get along better than ever!
Tresi thank you so much...! I had the same sort of problem (as you've probably guessed from the post) - my hair just wouldn't go past my bra strap. And the condition was awful for several inches in the ends [grammar?!], they just had to come off. I haven't had a pixie crop since the late 90s, I won't say never but I don't think I'd ever be daring enough to do that again!!
It's a bit of a shock to have so much less hair... your hair was always the long locks I was so envious of - the condition of mine was just dreadful, it was so dry! I'm sure many more hairstyles will materialise as the years go on though, hehe x
Oh, you look fabolous with your new hair length!!! I could relate to your words so much. Three years ago, I went from hip long hair to a bob and never looked back again. The shorter hair is not directly less work (it always requires blow-drying whereas the long hair could air dry) but the effort pays off so much more. I hope your new hair length becomes the same liberation and reason of joy it became for me.
Hip long is CRAZY long - my god that must have been a huge shock!! As it was I only had about five inches cut off so nowhere near as long as yours (I could never grow it past my bra strap). It's the washing and brushing that I know will be easier... if I didn't brush my hair halfway through the day I'd have to spend literally 10 minutes before bed trying to brush the knots out. And washing took AN ETERNITY, ughhhhh. I'm gonna be a wash n go kinda gal now, hurrah! x
Hi Catherine.....oh I can relate. Looking back in photos I constantly go between long and really short hair. I'm having a 'shall I transition to grey' dilemma right now.... the condition of my hair after decades of colouring it isn't great
Loved your long hair but your new cut looks just as gorgeous.....wishing you both a long relationship and much happiness together 😍
I'm in the same "shall I go grey" transition too, Kareema: I'm definitely grey enough to do it! But having spoken to my hairdresser there isn't a simple or easy way to do it when there's so much red in my hair. Plus I still love being a redhead, I don't want to give that up just yet! One day, one day...
Chic!
thanks Kay!
You are welcome and embrace the change!
This is soooooo clever!!!! And your new hair looks lovely!
Aww bless you Liz, thank you hon xx 🥰
Ugh I feel this. Cutting my hair is a constant internal debate lol

Hehe thanks Rona 😜

This made me chuckle 🤭 Big fan of the shorter locks! I've committed to my 'forever' (for now) chin-length bob...
Thanks Lizzie! I like the way you've said "forever (for now)" - sounds a lot like me x

"There were often so many layers that complicated things, or we felt like we were on the fringes and “looking in”...
I chuckled all the way through this, Catherine 🤣
I've yet to see a haircut that doesn't look good on you, though, and this one is no exception, so I'm sure you'll continue to thrive post-breakup!
LOL thanks Amber! 😉
